The Maternal Immunization Readiness Network in Africa and Asia (MIRNA) has engaged its stakeholders in Accra to discuss strategies for preparing the country’s healthcare system for the introduction of new maternal vaccines. This stakeholder meeting, which was held on Thursday, 20th March, 2025 builds on last month’s MIRNA Conference held in South Africa and is part of ongoing efforts to ensure Ghana's healthcare system is well-prepared for maternal vaccine rollout.

The discussions during the meeting centered on improving vaccine administration, logistics, and supply chain management, as well as enhancing training, supervision, and surveillance. Stakeholders are also exploring strategies for monitoring and evaluation, data management, and public awareness through social mobilization and communication.

This meeting brought together health experts and representatives from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Public Health, Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC), Research and Development Division (RDD-GHS) of Ghana Health Service, Ministry of Health, PATH, 37 Military Hospital, Paediatrics Society of Ghana, School of Public Health - University of Ghana, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast Nursing and Midwifery Training College, and Ridge Hospital.
