KHRC Hosts Zero Point Five (ZP5) Therapeutics to Advance Collaboration

The Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) has hosted the Founder and CEO of Zero Point Five (ZP5) Therapeutics, Dr. Joseph Amprey, along with Madam Nikki Adetoro, to discuss the progress of their upcoming collaboration on a Phase 3 clinical trial of an anti-helminthic.
The project aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of compound for the treatment of worms. During the visit, the ZP5 delegation toured KHRC’s facilities to assess the Centre’s readiness to implement the project.
Dr. Kwaku Poku Asante, Director of KHRC, welcomed the visitors and highlighted the Centre's strong preparedness. He emphasized that the collaboration aligns with KHRC’s broader goal of expanding its research scope and addressing pressing health challenges in the region.
Dr. Dennis Adu-Gyasi, Deputy Chief Biomedical Scientist at the KHRC, provided a detailed presentation on the Centre’s ongoing projects and research activities. He shared that from the experience the team has from previous clinical studies, the required number of participants could be recruited within the allocated schedule in the protocol.
Dr. Amprey and Madam Nikki Adetoro, who is ZP5’s VP of Clinical Operations, expressed excitement about the partnership. They commended KHRC’s work and commitment to the study, which they believe will play a key role in developing treatments for NTDs.
ZP5 Therapeutics, founded in 2021, is dedicated to developing treatments for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD), which are of significant public health concern in many low-income countries. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), NTDs affect over one billion people worldwide and result in economic losses exceeding a billion dollars annually. The collaboration between ZP5 and KHRC aims to contribute to global efforts in combating these diseases.
