Capacity building on climate and health data science

Scientists at the Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) and sister institutions Dodowa Health Research Centre (DHRC) and Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC) of the Research and Development Division, Ghana Health Service; and partners from the Columbia University, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Montana State University work together to build and strengthen capacity in climate data science at the AH Hotel in Accra from April 29 to May 3, 2024. The workshop is part of activities outlined for the NIH R01 climate and health supplement in the study entitled: “Developing climate cohorts to understand health associations, and resilience and susceptibility factors, in Ghana”. The training was mainly facilitated by Dr. Cascade Tuloske of the Montana State University, and the training modules included: climate data retrieval, reprocessing, visualization, statistical analysis, and approaches for forecasting climate data and their potential impacts on public health.
