Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) participated in the Air Quality Certificate course entitled “Capacity Building, Knowledge Sharing, and Air Quality Improvement for Anglophone and Francophone West Africa” mainly funded by the US Department of State and jointly organized by the University of Ghana and the Columbia University. This took place at the University of Ghana in Accra from 15th to 19th January 2024. The workshop aimed to bring together a group of academics, scientists, policymakers, citizen groups, and industry representatives with specialist expertise.

Dr. Sulemana W. Abubakari, Dr Seyram Kaali, and Mr Mujtaba Mohammed Nuhu represented KHRC. Air pollution is a multidimensional issue that calls for technological, environmental and governmental solutions. The team had the opportunity to interact with other air pollution experts in West Africa. Dr. Seyram Kaali also made a presentation on air quality and cohort studies. We propose for stakeholders to engage to understand what needs to be done, and how we can have long-term goals with short-term milestones towards achieving air quality in West Africa.

The team is grateful to the organizers for extending the invitation to KHRC. The team was presented with a certificate of participation.
